Atal Bihari Vajpayee | Longest Tunnel in the History in loving memory of the leader.

The tunnel made recently was the Dream of the leader which came to reality by the Modi Administration. Prime minister Narendra Modi decides to honor the leader and they even named the tunnel after him. The Atal Tunnel is the world's  longest highway tunnel made above 10,000 ft.

A SHORT LIFE HISTORY OF THE LEADER. 

Born - He was born in a Hindu-Brahmin family on 25th December 1924 in the Indian City Madhya Pradesh. 

Education - He studied in a school where his father was a headmaster and further studied BA in Hindi, English and Sanskrit & MA in Political Science. He further wanted to study law but gave up due to partition riots. 

Politics - Because of his interest in politics. He first joined RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) in 1939 as a volunteer after years he decided to become a full time worker in the same. 

Living - He used to work for the different monthly, weekly newspapers for a living before he got a seat in Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP). 

Quit India Movement - Vajpayee and his brother was arrested for three weeks during quit india movement. He denied being arrested after he became Prime Minister. 

Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS) - RSS foundation made Vajpayee along with Deendayal Upadhyaya work for the newly formed party “Bharatiya Jana Sangh”. The Party was later merged into “Janata Party” which was also a hindu party. 


Jawaharlal Nehru Predicted - Vajpayee's  thoughts impressed Jawaharlal Nehru that he predicted that he would become someday the Prime Minister of India. 

BJP (Bharatiya Janta Party) - Three years after Janata Party was formed that is 1980, It was decided to merge the party and name it BJP. The party was founded by Vajpayee along with LK Advani. Vajpayee stood for general elections in 1984 but lost because Congress gained sympathy over the death of their leader Indira Gandhi. Later he thought to resign due to his bad performance in that elections. 

Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir - In the presidency of LK Advani in the party, BJP raised the ram mandir movement and the stratergy paid off & they gained 86 seats in 1989 general elections. 

Prime Minister of India - November 1995, LK Advani announced that Vajpayee would be the party's Prime Ministerial candidate in the coming elections. May 1996, Vajpayee won the elections but couldn't form a government. Thus, he resigned. 

After the fall of the government, Lok Sabha was dissolved and fresh elections were held. This time, a number of parties joined BJP to form the government and Vajpayee won the elections again. The government lasted for 13 months due to withdrawal of some parties who opposed BJP's hindu nationalist ideology. As the government was unable to form, Lok Sabha was dissolved again and new elections were held. 

In 1999, Vajpayee for the third time elected for the Prime Minister of India. And this time everything runned smoothly. 


Good Governance Day - In the year 2014, Current PM Narendra Modi announced the birth of Atal Bihari Vajpayee to be celebrated as Good Governance Day. 

Bharat Ratna - 2015, Vajpayee was given India's highest civilian honour “Bharat Ratna”. 

Vajpayee was referred as Bhishma Pitamah - Then President Manmohan Singh referred Vajpayee as the Bhishma Pitamah of the politics which means nobody hates him. [For Your Information] Bhishma Pitamah is a character from Mahabharat who was respected in both the warring sides. 

Death - Vajpayee died in the Delhi hospital, AIIMS due to age related illness. He lived for 93 years and is remarkable in the history of politics and of India. 

An Honour has been given by PM Narendra Modi to Vajpayee by making his dream come true. The longest highway tunnel was a dream for Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

The 10,000 ft highway tunnel is The World's longest tunnel in the history. Built in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh that borders China. The Atal tunnel will give new strength to India's border infrastructure. It is an example of world-class border connectivity,” Modi said. A Special feature of the tunnel is that it has been designed to handle traffic density of 3,000 cars and 1,500 trucks per day.
